Catching California Halibut

While the California halibut do not get as large their northern cousins the Pacific Halibut, they are still a very fun fish to catch in both Northern and Southern California. They can be caught in very good numbers at certain times of year, right in the San Francisco bay, but are also caught near shore just outside the Golden Gate and up and down the coast of California. In SoCal many people also hook into them when surf fishing for perch and other smaller fish that live in the surf zones. Check out the bridge in the background, these guys are 30 minutes away from being in downtown San Francisco and are catching nice butts.
